Disability Works is a Community Interest Company aiming to change the lives of disadvantaged people, by enabling them to work as virtual assistants for businesses and organisations.
 
Isolation and physical disadvantage can both have a negative impact on self-esteem and well-being. By making use of existing skills or by training disadvantaged adults, we aim to empower people to start their own businesses to provide services to other businesses and organisations.
 
By setting up a network of people, we aim to provide extensive day to day administration services to SME’s enabling them to get on with other aspects of their business and for Disability Works members to be self-employed assistants that can work as much or as little as fits their situation.

What is a CIC?
 
A Community Interest Company (CIC) is a business with primarily social objectives whose surpluses are principally reinvested for that purpose in the business or in the community, rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners. CICs tackle a wide range of social and environmental issues and operate in all parts of the economy.
 
By using business solutions to achieve public good, it is believed that social enterprises have a distinct and valuable role to play in helping create a strong, sustainable and socially inclusive economy.
